Stay away from this idiot. Budget Rental is aware of his actions and is supposedly taking action against them. Still, there is no need to patronize this type of behavior.
The customer service personnel mentioned that this is an ongoing problem and that we aren't the first complaints about Salem's treatment towards women.
The shopkeeper here, a man named Salem Arkoub, who claims to be the owner, is so rude he actually put his hand in my wife's face and walked away. She spent over 90 minutes trying to return a vehicle. As she stood there, he continued to add bogus charges and to increase the bill by over $300. Finally she was unable to, since she is a WOMAN, and he wanted to speak to a man.
I had just left the hospital and came in to resolve the situation, since apparently, only a MAN can speak to Salem.
I didn't realize that Sharia' law had already come to Ocala.
The owner here is incredibly rude. I just called to request a copy of my receipt (so I could have my job reimburse my moving expenses) and he actually said, "you should have hung on to the receipt I gave you." This isn't my first bad experience with him either - if you can avoid using Budget at this location - do it.
Without explanation, and with an incredible amount of rudeness to my wife, he handed me an invoice. We argued for about 10 minutes and I left before I would have been arrested for aggravated battery.
We called Budget rental. They fixed the bill. Also, it turns out this is a corporate office, even though the business cards say "Arkoub's Car and Truck Rental." They are total frauds.
I rented a 10 ft truck 9 days before scheduled date online and received confirmation for this location. I had to drive north from naples for 3-1/2 hours to get the truck as I was picking up a daughter and furniture from UF in Gainesville and doing it one way. When I got to the facility I was rudely told the 10 ft. truck wasn't available and I could take a 24' truck instead. I am certainly not qualified to drive such a large truck and told him so, plus gas etc AND it was for a few pieces of furniture not 5 - 8 rooms full. He said he called me 2 hours earlier and left a message that they didn't have the truck and it was my fault I didn't check my message and showed up! We were definitely unhappy and let him know it and we were then thrown out and told we were going to be reported to the police. (it seems I was not the first person threatened with this) A man named Salem Arkoub who claims to be the owner just walked away and wouldn't talk to me and his EXTREMELY RUDE sidekick (Bill or BOB???) kept yelling and waving his arms at us and saying "calling the cops on you". Don't ever rent here. I am going to do my best to get BUDGET to take action against this franchise.
