I recently had our residential roof replaced by Don Stauss and Big D Roofing. The job was difficult due to the steep pitch of the roof.
The quality of the work and efficient operation made the experience very pleasant for me. The cost was very competitive.
I wish I could give a more positive review, especially since I went with the company that was $4,000 higher in price thinking I would get what I paid for. Where do I even start?
The rudest people. Never returned my calls. I called 10 times. Still waiting for call back. Contacted Premier Roofing. They came out next morning tarped roof. New roof going on in 10 days.
Wonderful experience! I had several quotes prior to replacing the roof on my home. I just felt like none of the other companies were entirely honest. Then Big D came by! He and his wife Paula go out of their way to treat you like more than just a customer. His quote was right where I needed it, and he's a man of his word. I was so impressed by the efficiency of the work, professionalism of the crew and every attention to detail. They rolled in on a Monday and moved fast! By Tuesday afternoon I had a beautiful new roof—and that's AFTER a setback by surprise wood rot they weren't anticipating. They left everything better than when they came—not one nail, piece of shingle debris or trash anywhere on my property. I would recommend Big D to anyone I know who's looking for a roof replacement or repair!
I have a very large yard and made it very clear there was only two small areas I did not want disturbed due to the fact that they are Memorial sites for my deceased family members. I lost my entire family in one year. They completely destroyed both of the areas! Crushed and killed the rose bushes and smashed everything else laying full sheets of plywood down on them. I also have only two areas on the entire house that has gutters. These are gutters we just placed on the house three months ago. For whatever reason they decided this would be the best place to put their ladders, completely crushing my brand new gutters. They Shrugged It Off by saying they would replace them at no cost to me. Which really means, "we will hide it in the final cost of the unknown amount of plywood we will be charging you for". They completely ripped up my ceiling drywall when they tore out my old skylights and instead of repairing it, they told me it wasn't their fault that the old ones were not put in properly.

Communication. I will have to say response was excellent. Every call was answered or returned pretty much immediately. That is until the final check was collected.
The crew had the entire roof off in one day and the cleanup and protection was exceptional!
Even with some difficult repairs, the new roof was completed in two days and it looks great! I liked the fact that Don Stauss was on the job personally even though his supervisor was there as well.
My husband works here and Mr.D and his wife are very wonderful people! My husband absolutely loves waking up to go into work for them! Amazing employment and bosses!!

I wish I could say this is where it ends but sadly it does not. They then put in the wrong skylights. Having to order the proper ones again saying at no cost to me but we all know where that expense ended up also. I soon found out for sure when I was told it would cost $200 to $300 to repair an area around the chimney and then received a bill for $1,000 for just that area!
As for every other aspect of the word communication, complete total failure.
So, between the workers urinating on my shed which is just outside the window of my grandchildren's playroom, the destruction of the only two gardens in my yard, roofing nails in 2 tires and countless on my pool deck. Also finding them hidden in the carpet in the rooms they changed out skylights, since they couldn't take a few minutes to put some kind of barriers up. Cigarette butts and trash are still being found throughout my yard. It is with all of this that I can say with a very clear conscience this is not the company I would ever recommend to anyone I cared about.
